New York keeps assessment and remediation apart. A licensed mold assessor inspects the property and writes the assessment and the remediation plan. A separately licensed mold remediation contractor carries out the work. The same company cannot do both on one project, and the assessor returns afterward for the post-remediation assessment. It depends on the scope. A single-room removal is often one to two days. Whole-home vapor treatment usually takes a day. Larger removals run longer. We tell you the schedule before we start.
Usually not during the removal work, because containment keeps it sealed off from the rest of the property. People and pets do need to be out during the vapor treatment itself, and most families are back the same evening.
Leave as much in place as you can. We clean the contents we can clean and tell you plainly about anything we cannot. Let your technician know about any brass items in the home so we can treat around them.

The key is controlling moisture and maintaining a clean, healthy indoor environment. After remediation, we recommend keeping indoor humidity ideally between 35–50%, addressing leaks or water intrusion quickly, maintaining proper ventilation, and keeping your HVAC system and ductwork clean and well maintained. We also encourage periodic inspections of basements, crawl spaces, attics, and other moisture-prone areas so small issues can be caught before they become larger problems.
